Okay, so I wanted to get into this whole astrology thing. It seemed kinda cool, you know? People always talk about their signs and how they act, and I was curious to see what the fuss was all about.
First, I hit up the internet, just like any newbie would. Typed in “astrology for beginners” and boom! Tons of stuff popped up. I found a few websites that seemed pretty chill and easy to understand. No complicated jargon, just straight-up explanations. These sites were a lifesaver, honestly.
I started with the basics, like, what are the zodiac signs? Turns out there are 12 of them, each with its own symbol and element. I learned that Aries is a fire sign and that people born under this sign are supposed to be, like, super energetic and impulsive. Then there’s Taurus, an earth sign, known for being, well, stubborn but also reliable. I went through all 12 signs, one by one, taking notes on my phone.
Next, I dug into birth charts. That was a bit trickier. You gotta know your birth date, time, and place. I plugged my info into one of those online calculators. It spit out this crazy-looking wheel with all sorts of symbols and lines. That was my birth chart, apparently. I spent a good chunk of time just figuring out what each part of the chart meant. Planets, houses, aspects – it was a lot to take in.

Aspects
I learned that each planet represents different parts of your personality. Like, the Sun is your basic identity, the Moon is your emotions, and Mercury is how you communicate. I started to see how these things might relate to me. For example, my Mercury is in Gemini, which supposedly means I’m a good talker. I guess that makes sense; I do like to chat.
Then there are the houses, which are basically different areas of your life. The first house is about your self-image, the second is about money, the third is about communication, and so on. I went through each house in my chart, trying to understand how the planets in those houses might play out in my life. It was like putting together a puzzle, piece by piece.
The last part was the aspects. It’s about how the planets interact with each other in your chart. Some combinations are harmonious, while others create tension. This was probably the hardest part for me to grasp. But I got the general idea that these aspects can show where you might have challenges or strengths in your life.
After getting the hang of the online stuff, I figured I’d go old school and check out some books. I went to a local bookstore and found a whole section on astrology. Grabbed a couple that looked beginner-friendly. One of them was particularly good. It had simple definitions, clear explanations, and even some exercises to help you understand your own chart better. This book really helped tie everything together for me.
I started to apply what I learned by looking at the charts of my friends and family. It was actually pretty fun. I’d ask for their birth info, create their charts, and then try to interpret them. Some of it was surprisingly accurate. Like, my friend who’s always on the move has a lot of planets in Sagittarius, which is all about travel and adventure. It was cool to see how these patterns showed up in real life.
Honestly, I’m still very much a beginner. There’s so much more to learn. But I feel like I’ve got a decent foundation now. I can follow along when people talk about astrology, and I have a basic understanding of my own chart. It’s been a fun and eye-opening experience so far. I’m excited to keep learning and see where this astrology journey takes me.
