Okay, so, I tried out this “Blue Moon” tarot spread thing the other day, and let me tell you, it was a trip. I’ve always been a bit curious about tarot, but never really knew where to start. Then, I stumbled upon this Blue Moon spread and figured, why not? It’s not every day you get a blue moon, right?
First off, I had to find a deck. I ended up borrowing one from my friend, Sarah. It was this old, really beautiful deck that she said had been passed down in her family. Felt kind of special to use it. Anyway, I waited until Sunday, when the blue moon was supposed to peak. I mean, if you’re gonna do it, you might as well go all in, you know?
Before I started, I did a bit of reading up on how to actually do a spread. I learned that the Blue Moon is all about tapping into your intuition and working with the energy of a rare event. Sounded cool, although I was still a bit skeptical. I found this simple four-card layout that seemed easy enough for a beginner like me. It was basically just laying out four cards and each one represents something different, like a mini-story or something.
So, the night of the blue moon, I set up a little space in my living room. I put a cloth on my windowsill, you know, trying to mimic what I’d read about recharging the deck under the moonlight. I lit a candle, put on some chill music, and just tried to get into a calm headspace. It felt a bit silly at first, but I actually started to enjoy the ritual of it all.
Then came the actual reading. I shuffled the deck while thinking about a general question I had about my career path. Nothing too specific, just wanted some general guidance. I laid out the four cards, face down at first. When I flipped them over, I got The Magician, The High Priestess, The Moon, and The Star. I had to look up what each card meant. It’s interesting that I got The Moon for a Blue Moon reading. The Moon is like all about intuition and mystery which felt pretty fitting.
I spent a good hour just staring at the cards and thinking about what they could mean. I won’t bore you with the details, but The Moon card really got me thinking. It’s all about intuition and the subconscious, which is what the Blue Moon spread is supposed to enhance. I realized I’ve been ignoring my gut feelings a lot lately and maybe it’s time to start listening to them more.
I mean, the whole experience was surprisingly insightful. I didn’t expect to get much out of it, but I ended up learning a thing or two about myself. I even left the cards out on the windowsill overnight, just like I read about, to let them “soak up” the moonlight. Cheesy, I know, but hey, it felt right.
I’m not saying I’m suddenly a tarot expert or anything, but it was a fun experience. And who knows, maybe I’ll start doing this more often. It’s a nice way to reflect and just take a break from the everyday craziness. Plus, it gave me and Sarah something to chat about, so that was cool too. If you’re looking for something a little different to try, I’d say give it a shot. You might be surprised at what you discover about yourself!
