So, I got this new tarot deck the other day, and I was super stoked to get into it. But then I was like, wait, how do I even start with this thing? I mean, I’ve used tarot cards before, but every deck has its own vibe, right? That’s when I remembered this cool thing called a “deck interview spread.” It’s basically a way to get to know your new deck and figure out what kind of energy it’s bringing to the table.
First off, I made sure to create a chill atmosphere. I lit some candles, put on some relaxing music, you know, the whole nine yards. Then, I held the deck in my hands for a few minutes, just trying to connect with it and set my intentions. I’m a big believer in setting the right mood before diving into anything spiritual.
Next, I shuffled the cards while thinking about getting to know the deck. I’m not the best shuffler, I’ll admit, but I did my best. Once I felt like they were good and mixed, I cut the deck into three piles and then put them back together into one. This is just my usual way of shuffling, nothing fancy.
The Spread
For this interview spread, I decided to go with a simple six-card layout. I laid the cards out in two rows of three. Here’s what each position represented:
- Card 1: Tell me about yourself. What is your most important characteristic?
- Card 2: What are your strengths as a deck?
- Card 3: What are your limits as a deck?
- Card 4: What are you here to teach me?
- Card 5: How can I best learn and collaborate with you?
- Card 6: What is the potential outcome of our working relationship?
I pulled the cards one by one, taking my time to really look at each one and jot down my initial thoughts in my journal. I didn’t rush it. I just sat there, staring at the images, letting whatever came to mind flow onto the paper. It’s kind of like a brain dump, but with tarot cards.
After pulling all six cards, I spent some time reflecting on the spread as a whole. I noticed some interesting patterns and connections between the cards. I also compared my feelings before the reading with how I felt after, noting any shifts or new insights. The “Magician” card came out as the card representing what the deck is. That’s a good sign. It means this deck has a strong will to help me find my resources and put them into practice.
This deck interview was a real eye-opener. It’s like, I had an idea of what to expect, but the cards totally surprised me in the best way possible. I realized that this deck is going to be a powerful tool for self-discovery, but it’s also going to challenge me to step outside of my comfort zone. It’s not just about getting answers, it’s about growing as a person.
I’m still processing everything, but I can already tell that this is going to be a beautiful and transformative journey. I’m excited to see where this deck takes me, and I’m so glad I took the time to really get to know it first. If you’re just getting started with tarot or have a new deck on hand, I highly recommend doing a deck interview spread. It’s a game-changer!
